We love the beauty of a rose flower but forget that it is surrounded by thorns.
Thorns prick, (are harsh and ruthless) but are meant to protect the Rose from predators, users and abusers. People who come to pluck the Rose before its time.
Who surrounds you in life. Do they look out for you? Are they for your good? Or do they keep you away from things that are meant for your good?
Thorns can also be likened to walls that we put up to keep away things (or people) that we don’t want around us. They can be too high or too thick that we become oblivious of our surroundings. Walls can be for our good, or not.
Thorns can also be our character faults, things that we do that repel others from us, knowingly or unknowingly. This could be from past experiences that pushed us to extremes and as a result, we picked traits that originally were not ours.
Are we beautiful roses 🌹 whose sweet scent attracts people to us but when they draw near we repel them by the thorns that we carry.
As a farmer prunes his plants so that they may bear good fruit, the Creator of the universe prunes us so that we may, as beautiful roses, bring beauty, joy and love (His love) in many lives across the world.
John 15:1-3 (NKJV)
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He [a]takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
