The Finish Line
I have heard it said that it matters how you finish, not how you start. As I reflect on life, I understand this statement a bit better now. Why? Because at the finish line, you have endured the race, spent all you are and all you have. You have had victories and failures, tripped and fallen but rose up again.
You have endured battles and storms but came out strong. You’ve kept a brave face through the valleys and fights. And then, you still have to cross over. Is there any strength left in you? Any will to keep going?
A friend once told me that even if it meant for her to crawl to get to the finish line, she would (thanks JW). This statement has stuck with me since.
And so, as we come to another 31st December and the dawning of a new year, I want to encourage someone to not give up. The fact that you have weathered the storms and are still here means that there is still a purpose for you to fulfill, there is still something that you have to give, a life that you need to touch, a story you need to tell.
So muster up that (little) strength left in you, and give it a shot, one more time. Push, just one more time. One more time.
Scripture:
Luke 5:4-6 Now when He had left speaking, He said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
And Simon answering said unto Him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at Thy word I will let down the net.
And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.
